Fundación ONCE

	Fundación ONCE was formed from the Organización Nacional de Ciegos de España ONCE (the Spanish National Organisation for the Blind), which was set up in 1938 to provide support for visually impaired people in Spain.

	In 1988, the General Council of ONCE decided to set up the ONCE Foundation for Cooperation and Inclusion Of People With Disabilities, a non-profit organisation which aims at contributing to improve the quality of life of people with disabilities. The foundation acts as a common platform for the main Spanish organisations working for impaired people and encouraging other organisations and institutions to get involved in specific programmes aimed at providing equal opportunities for people with disabilities.

	Fundación ONCE´s main source of finance each financial year is the 3% gross receipts obtained from sales of tickets for ONCE´s lotteries which are sold by blind people and those with other disabilities.

	Mission

	Fundación ONCE´s mission is to contribute to improving the quality of life of people with disabilities. More specifically, its goal is to achieve the full integration of people with disabilities launching, or cooperating in, programmes aimed at enhancing professional integration, training and employment. Additionally, the foundation promotes global accessibility through the elimination of all types of barriers, incorporating Global Accessibility, Design for All and Self-Sufficiency principles.

	Programme Areas

	The foundation works to establish general frameworks for agreements with public and private institutions to benefit people with disabilities, assisting their personal development, integration into society and employment. It supports general welfare activities in the following main areas:

		Professional training and employment

Fondazione Cassa di Risparmio di Torino

	Fondazione CRT is a private non-profit organisation established in 1991 by the Cassa di Risparmio di Torino. Its headquarters are situated in the centre of the city of Turin, in an historic building constructed during the 18th century and restored during the 1930s by the famous architect Giovanni Chevalley.

	The foundation has a strong localised calling and acts in key sectors of development in the Italian regions of Piedmont and Valle d´Aosta, developing projects that range from conservation and valorisation of artistic heritage and cultural activities to scientific research; from education and training to health and assistance; from environmental protection to innovation in local organisations.

	Programme Areas

	The foundation supports external initiatives and carries out its own projects in the fields of scientific research, education, conservation, cultural heritage, performing arts, health and welfare, innovation in local authorities, and local economic development.

	The Open To All initiative is an example of Fondazione CRT’s activities in the field of inclusion, following the foundation’s involvement in the Winter Paralympics Games of 2006. Open To All aims to become a model of accessibility in Torino as well as in the north-western Italian regions of Piedmont and Valle d’Aosta.

	The project, which focuses mainly on improving the accessibility of the city of Turin, involves fundamental operating partners and institutions, such as Politecnico di Torino, ISITT, Thales Alenia Space, City of Torino, Piedmont Region and GTT.

	Open To All currently undertakes four main lines of action:

		Developing a new satellite navigator to enhance personal mobility and autonomy for people with disabilities in the pedestrian city zone;

		Optimising the conditions of existing touristic paths, opening the already accessible routes and spaces to people with all kinds of disability (physical, cognitive, sensorial), creating new accessible paths;

		Sustaining networking between different organisations working on accessibility;

		Offering training courses for museum employees to ensure the best welcoming and experience for people with disabilities.

Fondazione Banca del Monte di Lucca

	The Banca del Monte di Lucca Foundation (BMLucca Foundation) was established on 1 June 1992, when the banking activities of the public-law credit institution were transferred to Banca del Monte di Lucca Bank, Inc.

	Its roots lie in the spread, during the second half of the fifteenth century, of institutions called Monti di Pietà, whose purpose was to combat the practice of usury in an age (the early Renaissance) when the differences in income and standard of living between the social classes were growing more and more dramatic. It is within this context that Fra’ Bernardino da Feltre contributed to the establishment of Lucca’s Monte di Pietà, which was founded by the Republic of Lucca in 1489.

	In 2003, the Banca del Monte di Lucca Foundation undertook the restoration of a building in the historical centre of Lucca to host its own activities and those of local organisations. The foundation’s headquarters comprise an Auditorium and several rooms used for art and cultural exhibitions and conferences.

	Mission

	The BMLucca Foundation is essentially a grantmaking foundation. Its mission is to pursue social welfare projects in the areas of education, arts and heritage, support weak social classes, foster cultural activities and protect the environment, in order to favour and encourage the creation and development of productive activities and the enhancement of economic resources, particularly in the Province of Lucca.

	Programme Areas

	The foundation focuses its activities in the following areas (although they are periodically revised):

		Art, archaeological, historical and cultural heritage

		Education, learning and training

		Local development and environmental protection

		Welfare and supporting weak social classes

		Creation and development of productive activities and the enhancement of economic resources
