A NEW Call for Proposals: EUROPEAN EXCELLENCE AWARD FOR ACCESSIBLE TOURISM

A new call for proposals has been published in the framework of the Preparatory action Tourism and accessibility for all, financed by the European Parliament and aimed at laying down the foundations for future initiatives in the area of tourism and accessibility.

The overall purpose of this call is to" incentivise and reward European destinations which make accessibility as a key priority in their promotional offer".

Specific aims of the European Excellence Award for Accessible Tourism are:

  • To foster adaptation of tourism products and services to the needs of people with disabilities
  • To promote the use of innovative solutions
  • To improve skills and training with relation to accessibility in the tourism supply chain
  • To raise awareness and promote cooperation between public and private stakeholders the access needs of tourists
  • To foster the creation of a seamless and truly accessible tourism supply chain in Europe
  • To disseminate best practices and promote networking amongst destinations

The European Excellence Award for Accessible Tourism aims at supporting National Administrations in charge of tourism or other public bodies, for the selection of best practices or excellence initiatives implemented in the tourism industry, having improved access to all visitors and particularly to people with disabilities.

The estimated maximum budget allocated for the Preparatory Action "Accessible Tourism" financing this call for proposals is: 300.000€.

The maximun EU co-financing rate of eligible costs is up to 75% and up to 30,000€ per project (max 2 projects per EU Member State).

 

The deadline is  November 13th 2012.
